Boise State University’s Office of Information Technology announced Tuesday the appointment of Brandon Bowlin as its new chief information security officer.
Prior to joining Boise State, Bowlin spent three years as director of cybersecurity services at cybersecurity company Ascent Solutions, according to . his LinkedIn profile. He also has experience as director of cloud security operations at Seitel Systems, an IT engineering and consulting firm.
His career includes consulting and security advisory, as well as leading teams implementing technology, processes and strategies across multiple industries, according to one person. press release.
“Bowlin is a cybersecurity expert whose mission is to protect and defend against the ever-growing threats in the digital realm and protect the digital well-being of individuals and organizations,” the release said.
Mr. Bowlin is a Tennessee native who joined the Marines after high school, then attended Vanderbilt University where he earned a bachelor’s degree before returning to the Marines as a communications officer.
After leaving the military, he worked in information technology management before going back to school and earning a master’s degree in cybersecurity and information assurance from Western Governors University.
