An investigation is underway after what Massachusetts State Police called a “possible criminal act” that occurred on a flight to Boston Saturday morning.
In a news release Saturday night, state police said they received a call from American Airlines around 10 a.m. Saturday about possible criminal activity on Flight 1441 from Charlotte, North Carolina, to Boston.
State police responded once the plane landed and began an investigation. However, the act is believed to have occurred during the flight and is being investigated by federal authorities.
The FAA said in a statement that the plane’s crew reported a “possible safety hazard” after landing in Logan.
The FBI’s Boston Division acknowledged the response but declined further comment.
Massachusetts officials did not provide additional information about what this practice entails.
American Airlines released a statement to NBC10 Boston amid the investigation, but would not confirm further details.
“We take this matter very seriously and are fully cooperating with law enforcement in their investigation as safety and security is our top priority,” the statement said.
