Bob van Dijk, CEO of Naspers and Prosus, did just that Step down He resigned from his position effective immediately in a surprising move at a company that owns and supports many large software companies and startups globally. Ervin Tu, who is currently Chief Investment Officer of Prosus Group, has been promoted to the position of Interim Corporate CEO.
“The Prosus and Naspers Board of Directors want to thank Bob for his decade-long leadership,” Prosus Chairman Kos Becker said in a statement. “During this time, significant businesses have been created in classifieds, food delivery and payments, while we have also entered into many new areas. We value Bob’s contributions and wish him much success in his future career.”
The news press release did not include a statement from Pope, who assumed the top role at the companies in 2014. The companies said their boards of directors and Pope had “mutually agreed” that he would step down from his position. Bob, 50, will continue to consult on the boards of Naspers and Prosus for a year.
“Prosus is operating with momentum. I am honored to take on this role and help shape the future of the group. I could not be more excited about the team around me and getting started,” Irvine said in a statement.
