The enlistment date of the four members of BTS is rapidly approaching. RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook are the only BTS members in the group’s seven-member lineup who have not yet begun their mandatory military service. Jin enlisted last year, and J-Hope and Suga joined the military earlier this year. The latest update on BIGHIT Music’s enlistment process does not share the exact date, but details the current procedure schedule.
“We would like to thank all the fans who have always loved BTS. We would like to provide follow-up information regarding the enlistment of RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook,” the agency shared in a statement via Weverse. “RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook have joined the Army as active duty soldiers to fulfill their mandatory military service.”
According to the announcement, RM and V will be enlisting separately through their own procedures, while Jimin and Jungkook will be enlisting at the same time.
BIGHIT noted that the event normally includes a send-off by family members, but that previously large numbers of fans had gathered, and clarified that “there will be no other official event on the day the recruits enter the training center.” “Please send a warm farewell and encouragement to RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook.”
So far, Suga is the only BTS member to have completed his mandatory military service as a social service worker rather than an active military member. He underwent shoulder surgery in 2020, which likely led to an alternate service method. In South Korea, all able-bodied men between the ages of 18 and 28 are required to serve in the military for two years.
All seven members of BTS are strengthening their musical presence prior to their enlistment.Last month, Jungkook released his debut album goldenMeanwhile, V released his debut album “Layover” in September. Suga (August D) shared his new album “D-Day” in April, and Jimin’s project “Faith” was released in March. Jin released the single “The Astronaut” prior to his enlistment last year. RM ends 2022 with album “Indigo”, J-Hope also releases jack in the box Last July.
In September, it was revealed that BTS would renew their contracts with HYBE and BIGHIT Music. It is said that each member of BTS is planning to sign an exclusive contract with BIGHIT Music after a board of directors resolution. The deal will include future releases beyond 2025, when the hiatus is expected to end.
