HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — The Hillsborough County, Florida, Health Department has confirmed one case of dengue fever that was locally transmitted through a mosquito bite.
Authorities are carrying out aerial spraying as a preventive measure and are urging residents to report dead birds to police. Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Take precautions against mosquitoes.
The Department of Health conducts statewide surveillance for mosquito-borne diseases such as West Nile virus infection, malaria and dengue fever.
