Cathay Pacific Airways plans to suspend flights to Hong Kong from Friday afternoon until Saturday morning as Super Typhoon Saola approaches the Asian financial hub, according to people familiar with the situation.
Saola could be the strongest typhoon to hit Hong Kong since Mangkhut hit the city five years ago. The recent storm led to the evacuation of more than 69,000 people in the Philippines and the cancellation of more than a dozen flights in Taiwan.
