WARREN COUNTY — Health officials say one county had a higher-than-average number of pediatric pneumonia cases this fall.
of Warren County Health District Since August, 142 cases of childhood pneumonia have been reported.
“This not only exceeds the county average, but also meets the Ohio Department of Health’s definition of an outbreak,” a health district spokesperson said in a release. “We believe this is not a new respiratory disease, but rather a significant increase in the number of pneumonia cases we would normally see at one time.”
The average age so far has been about 8 years old, a spokesperson said.
