Trains on several CTA lines were suspended in Chicago’s River North neighborhood on Thursday afternoon due to an “equipment defect,” the agency said.
Service on the Brown and Purple lines was suspended near the Chicago station in River North after reports of an “equipment defect,” according to a press release.
Service on both lines was halted for at least an hour after some passengers saw and smelled smoke due to an equipment problem, officials said.
As of 7:30 p.m., service was gradually resuming, but delays may remain due to the issues, officials said.
There were no reports of smoke-related injuries.
