A lieutenant inspector (SI) working with the Cyberbad Cyber Crime Police has been arrested on suspicion of covering up MDMA found at a crime scene. Raidurgam police also seized 1,750 kg of contraband from his residence in the city. The police officer had previously been arrested in a corruption case by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for soliciting a bribe of ₹10,000.

The police officer hired in 2009 spent the last two years working in Cyberbud’s Cybercrime Countermeasures Unit after serving in Madhapur’s Special Operations Team (SOT). The Raidurgam police took him to court and the court remanded him. The Cyberbad Police Department plans to issue a suspension order for the lieutenant on Monday.
On 3 June 2013, the ACB arrested him for soliciting and receiving a bribe of ₹10,000 ₹10,000 while he was an SI officer in the Raidurgam Police. The bribe was to release the accused’s seized car.
