Spoiler Alert: The following article contains mild spoilers for Cyberpunk 2077’s expansion Phantom Liberty, mainly regarding decisions made in the fourth main mission, “Lucretia My Reflection.”
Cyberpunk 2077 players can quickly find themselves locked out of the game’s only expansion, Phantom Liberty, if they choose the wrong dialogue option in-game.
As chronicled in IGN’s Cyberpunk 2077 guide, the option to simply walk away from Phantom Liberty’s main campaign is limited during the mission “Lucretia My Reflection” when Idris Elba’s Solomon Reed tells the mission’s protagonist V, “It’s worth it. “Does it exist?” is displayed when you ask.
“You know what, Reid? You’re right,” V replies. “This is really weird. I’m going to stop.” The other characters start to sweat a little here, and the player is given one last chance to choose to continue with the paid expansion. Even Johnny Silverhand tells V that this isn’t a bluff.
However, by choosing to “make a decision,” V chooses to leave Reed’s mission and leave Phantom Liberty behind. “He finally showed his true face,” the character continues. “Is that the way things are? Then you’ll have a hard time leaving me. Even if I have to die, I’m not going to die in someone else’s war.”
The job is displayed as failed and the player is told to leave after further disappointing dialog. Exploration of the new Dogtown area is still possible, and players can still do all the new gigs and other side his content, but Phantom and his Liberty main quests are still available until the new game starts. It will be locked. Players can read this and all of Phantom Liberty’s other easter eggs and references in IGN’s guide.
