- Delta Air Lines will temporarily suspend service from Seattle to Juneau and reduce scheduled flights from 30 to three in November.
- The suspension will last until June 2024, and Delta plans to resume daily service in the summer following normal seasonal service.
- Delta Air Lines is also cutting back on flights to Fairbanks International Airport, with plans to cut 25 flights and more than 2,700 seats starting in November.
Flights from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) to Juneau International Airport (JNU) will be temporarily reduced by one operator. Data from Cirium reveals that Delta Air Lines will temporarily suspend operations on this route.
Seattle-Juneau service to resume mid-next year
Delta Air Lines significantly reduced the number of flights this November, according to data from Cirium. The airline originally planned 30 flights from Seattle to Juneau in November. This is a significant increase from the eight flights conducted in November 2022, and the number of seats has increased by 3,600. However, there are currently only three scheduled flights from Seattle to Juneau in November. These three flights have a total of 480 seats.

There are currently no Delta flights listed after December. This reduction in total monthly flights is scheduled to continue until May 2024 for him. Previously, the airline operated daily scheduled flights to this route. Over the next six months, this equates to 4,640 to 4,960 seats per month. Delta Air Lines operated eight flights per month during these months of 2022, then increased to daily flights in June during the summer months.
The airline plans to resume operations in June next year, according to Cirium data. This is consistent with the airline’s typical seasonal operations in the past. Delta aims to launch daily flights in the summer of 2024. Delta Air Lines issued a statement regarding the route suspension, saying:
“Due to commercial and operational constraints, Delta Air Lines will suspend daily flights from Seattle to Juneau from November 4, 2023 through June 6, 2024. As always, we are committed to serving our customers. We are monitoring and adjusting our route network based on demand and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.”Delta is committed to the Alaska market, offering year-round and summer service to Anchorage from Seattle and Minneapolis-St. Airlines just announced that they will resume nonstop service between Detroit and Anchorage next June to complement their seasonal service. “Delta Airlines flies from Atlanta and Salt Lake City. Delta also serves three other cities in the state: Fairbanks, Ketchikan, and Sitka. We plan to resume service to Juneau next summer. I’m looking forward to it.”

Delta Air Lines has traditionally operated seasonal and year-round flights from Seattle to Juneau. This route has typically been flown by Delta Air Lines’ Boeing 737 aircraft in the past. The service recently changed from seasonal to year-round service in 2022. Previously, Delta Air Lines had been operating this route seasonally since 2016.
Other Alaska flight reductions
Delta Air Lines will reduce all flights from Seattle to Juneau in the coming months, as well as reduce flights to Fairbanks International Airport (FAI). Flight reductions will begin in November this year as well. Delta Air Lines had originally planned to operate 59 flights during the month. However, the airline currently has 34 flights scheduled, according to Cirium data. This is a reduction of 25 flights or more than 2,700 seats.
The reduction in the number of flights will continue for the remainder of this year and into 2024. Delta Air Lines plans to reduce its operations to daily flights from December through May 2024. In June, Delta plans to return to nearly two flights per day. There are 54 flights scheduled for the month. This schedule aligns with summer service similar to the Seattle-Juneau route.
