Now, I wrote earlier that Bungie needed to buff Destiny 2’s Titans, reflecting the common community sentiment that the Final Shape/Salvation’s Edge/Prismatic-era Titans were too weak, and now Bungie has responded.
it is Fireteam Chat Interview (via Game Post), Battlefield Area Leader Benjamin Womack was asked about Titan and said they were indeed working on it.
“To be honest, we’re having a lot of discussions internally about Titans right now and looking at more than just Prismatic. Taking all of that into account, it’s clear that we’re not done with Prismatic yet.”
That brings up a larger point: Prismatic will continue to add features and change over time.
“We want to continue adding to Prismatic. This is just as important as adding to other subclasses. Different parts need to be timed and projected properly. Which parts of the game need the most attention?”
When it comes to Titans specifically, there are old ways as well as new ways that buffs can help.
- Obviously, as we’ve seen, this is an enhancement to the value of traditional subclasses, in which case they may be for aspects that are also used in Prismatic.
- Replace or add Prismatic Aspects. I can already imagine that Void and Strand Aspects would be better off with alternatives than what’s currently shown.
- Adding more options to exotic class item perks: Titans will no longer be granted some exotic perks that could be game-changing for prismatic synergies, and instead will be granted a ton of less important perks.
- Many of Titan’s exotic class abilities rely on Barricades rather than Thrusters, which are very popular for the class, and this could be a big change.
Bungie’s plan seems to be not just to balance Prismatic, but to actually add to it. That means new aspects and fragments, and especially in the future, that means there will be more than one attribute subclass aspect per class. That would be very helpful, especially for Titans. That being said, with the sheer amount of combinations that weren’t originally intended and the two exotic perks on top of that, you can see why Prismatic is even harder to balance than other subclasses.
While I’m enjoying the rocket exotic chests, which are a positive aspect of my current build, everything else clearly needs a lot of work, so I sincerely hope that we see some Titan buffs sooner rather than later.
