Egypt’s basic pharmaceutical products manufacturing index fell by 15.13% from 92.22 in March to 78.27 in April.
Egypt’s manufacturing and extractive industries index, excluding crude oil and petroleum products, recorded a monthly decline of 12.61 percent from 109.33 in March 2024 to 95.54 in April 2024.
Latest version of Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics revealed that the furniture industry price index in Egypt rose by 9.27% monthly from 134.60 points in March to 147.08 points in April 2024. The agency attributed this increase to the increased demand for furniture products in the market. The agency also revealed that the beverage industry price index rose by 12.07% from 352.76 points in March to 395.34 points in April.
Meanwhile, Egypt’s food products manufacturing index witnessed a significant decline of 19.04% from 152.81 in March to 123.72 in April 2024 due to the shortage of raw materials needed for production. In addition, the basic pharmaceutical products manufacturing index declined by 15.13% from 92.22 in March to 78.27 in April.
Egypt saw a decline in total business activity and new orders in April, as high prices and volatile exchange rates weighed on the country’s economy, according to the S&P Global Purchasing Managers’ Index.

Since then, the country has seen an improvement in economic conditions, supporting its manufacturing sector. New business volumes and sales in Egypt’s non-oil sector rose for the first time since August 2021 in June amid improving demand. Egypt’s manufacturing and services sectors saw an increase in new orders. However, declines in the construction and wholesale & retail sectors painted a mixed picture for business growth.
With government policies supporting the easing of price pressures and boosting demand, economic conditions in Egypt began to stabilize in June, raising the country’s positive outlook.
