Company X, formerly Twitter, will begin displaying headlines in preview cards with URLs on the platform again after removing the headlines last month, Elon Musk said.
In a post on X, Musk said in the upcoming update, the company will cover the title at the top of the URL card image. He did not mention any specific timeline for the rollout or provide an example of what the card might look like.
In August, Tesla’s CEO said the X plans to stop displaying titles with URLs in previews in order to “improve aesthetics.” The company has stopped displaying headlines in October after the announcement.
Because of this change, users had to click or tap on the URL card to actually see the title or read the main headline. To get around this change, publishers started writing their own titles on images and posting the link separately or including the title in the preview card image they generated.
This change may make it easier to make posts and not work on custom layouts, but it depends entirely on the new card layout.
X has had a turbulent few weeks as major advertisers, including Apple, Disney and Comcast, temporarily halted spending after Musk endorsed anti-Semitic remarks. On Tuesday, Paris Hilton’s company 11:11 Media pulled its partnership with the social media company just weeks after signing it.
