The Emmy Awards, which had been postponed due to labor strikes in Hollywood, resumed on Monday night, and along with the awards ceremony was held what could be considered television’s biggest fashion show.
Although the carpet was gray, there was no shortage of red, a very popular color at this month’s Golden Globe Awards. Ribbons, an unavoidable accessory for 2023, remained a favorite decoration. Riley Keough wore a black ribbon in her hair, while “Daisy Jones and the Six” castmate Suki Waterhouse and “Abbott’s Elementary” actress and screenwriter Quinta Brunson each wore black ribbons in their hair. She had a black ribbon in her hair. they are wearing gowns. (Mr. Waterhouse was sitting under the baby’s butt.)
The ceremony honored the TV shows that aired last year, giving viewers a chance to catch up on what the cast is up to in Season 2 of “White Lotus.” Some members apparently took advantage of the opportunity to pay homage to the show by wearing costumes from Italian designers. Meghan Fahey chose a strapless armani rosette dress (it was red). Simona Tabasco wore a floral full-skirt Marni. Jennifer Coolidge wore a sheer Etro dress.
In a carpet filled with feathers, beads, sequins, diamonds, and well-tailored suits, these 15 outfits stood out from the rest (for better or worse).
Aubrey Plaza: Most dangerous!
The White Lotus star wore a pale yellow-green Loewe look with giant pins. If this accessory looks familiar, it might be because Past Lives director Celine Song sported a similarly large pin in her Loewe skirt at the Golden Globes.
Ayo Edebiri: The best seed pod!
The leather texture and inverted tulip shape made “The Bear” actress’ Louis Vuitton dress a little more interesting than your average black strapless dress.
Jennifer Coolidge: The most evil gay fodder!
There’s no doubt that the “White Lotus” actress played Peppa Pig in this black Etro dress with sheer fabric and plunging neckline.
Issa Rae: The most avian!
In an on-carpet interview, the actress and “Black Lady Sketch Show” executive producer said she wanted to add a little drama to her Emmys look. Her flowing Pamela Rowland dress covered in feathers and crystals accomplished that (and then some).
Donald Glover: The most embroidered!
The actor, who is a co-creator of the show ‘Swarm’, looked dapper in a black velvet boardsuit with floral embroidery. The best part about this outfit might be the ribbon-top slippers.
Suki Waterhouse: Most Pregnant!
Few red dresses were as eye-catching as the pregnant actress Valentino’s midriff-baring dress. In her on-carpet interview, she said she needed to redesign to fit her bumps.
Sheryl Lee Ralph: The Most Menswear Mermaid!
The “Abbott Elementary” star graced the carpet in a look styled by her daughter. Her white Christian Siriano dress featured her peak lapels, cinched waist, and flared mermaid skirt.
Liv Hewson: So classy!
After having their names removed from the nominations for male and female acting awards at this year’s Emmy Awards, cast members and actors from ‘Yellowjackets’ are claiming that wearing a shirtless tuxedo is the ultimate in non-binary chic. Seems to emphasize the point.
Matty Matheson: The best, the worst!
Wearing a tuxedo and fisherman sandals, the ‘The Bear’ star gave his opinion on the outfit. Birkenstocks under the gown.
Taraji P. Henson: The most promotional!
Nominated for her guest appearance on Abbott Elementary, she chose an ethereal Versace dress in plum hues. Perhaps to remind her viewers that she is the star of her new film adaptation, The Color Purple.
Selena Gomez: The most Matisse!
Covering the dress of Oscar de la Renta, the lead actress in “Bill Murders,” were blood-red sequins that formed motifs that looked like the shapes that appeared in the artist’s so-called cutouts.
Tatanka means “oneself!”
The ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ actor showed off his unique style with braids and beaded bracelets, paired with a green velvet Jack Victor tuxedo.
Laverne Cox: The most archival!
The E! host wore some of the most capital F fashion of the night: an elongated, scaly dress by Thierry Mugler. (She is an avid collector of the couturier.) The collection from which this gown is based, 1989’s “Les Atlantes,” is on display at the museum.
Emma Brooks McAllister: The most sculptural!
The influencer gave the illusion of a fully bared bodysuit, with what appeared to be abs underneath a translucent skirt.
Simona Tabasco: The best decoupage!
When the “The White Lotus” star stepped off the carpet in a floral collage Marni dress, she looked like a walking bouquet of flowers.
