Ethiopia has become Africa’s latest defaulter after it failed to make an interest payment after the grace period expired on Monday.
The Horn of Africa country was forced to pay a $33 million coupon on December 11. The government did not want to repay the amount because it “wanted to treat all creditors the same way.” Ahmed ShayedThe Ethiopian Finance Minister said on state television on Thursday.
