The Obon holidays are over, but winter traditions still remain. CES is back and Las Vegas is once again a haven for tech-obsessed people.Owned by Samsung Annual CES Press Conference January 8th at 2pm PT / 5pm ET, the day before the exhibit officially opens. Engadget will have more than a dozen people on site at his CES 2024 event in Las Vegas, and you can watch the livestream from home to find out what’s going on. Of course, Samsung is a big company with its hands in every cookie jar, so you might be wondering what the press conference will focus on. And you already know the answer. It’s AI. The title of the press is “AI for All: Connectivity in the Age of AI,” but he manages to squeeze in the term twice.
what we expect
The event will be led by Jeonghee Han, Samsung’s Vice Chairman, CEO and Head of DX (Device Experience). Samsung has been pretty tight-lipped about details, instead relying on the overarching theme of “AI for all.” Perhaps we can learn more about the company’s upcoming chatbot Gauss. Gauss can compose emails, write code, and you know it. However, it can also upscale low-resolution images, which is great.
according to Korea Times, Gauss will be introduced in the upcoming Galaxy S24 devices, so CES 2024 will be the perfect opportunity to officially announce it. The S24 line is scheduled for release in his mid-January, so it will be out in just over a week.
Of course, Samsung is primarily a hardware manufacturer, so it’s strange to spend an entire keynote on AI. Last year’s press conference saw the company announce everything from smart ovens with internal cameras to MicroLED and 8K TVs. In any case, you won’t have to wait long.
What Samsung announced
In case you missed Samsung’s CES press conference live, here’s the latest version. The company introduced the world’s first transparent MicroLED screen. This is definitely the center of attention. Samsung also surprised us by bringing back its Ballie robot with a built-in projector and a completely different look. In terms of off-the-shelf hardware, there’s a new TV, projector, HDMI 2.1 soundbar, Music Frame speakers that work with the company’s Frame TV (which I also experienced), and a monitor that works without the need for a smart PC. and a new interface for your TV that lets you use your TV as a smart home hub.
So far, we’ve seen Barry up close on the show. Nathan Ingraham, associate editor at Engadget, concludes that while it’s certainly cute, it still doesn’t go far enough.
