Rosalynn Carter will be remembered as a beloved dessert after her death on November 19 at the age of 96.
On Monday, the U.S. National Archives’ official X account posted a “Carter Family Favorite” recipe crediting the former first lady.
“Today, we honor the incredible work of Rosalynn Carter, who touched a nation with her warmth,” the post began. “We remember her by making her classic strawberry cake, one of her favorite recipes, which reflected the sweetness she brought to so many. I’d like to introduce.”
The post contained a link to National Archives Catalog Image of strawberry cake recipe by lifelong mental health advocate.
The recipe, which has letterhead from the White House, calls for packaged yellow cake mix, strawberry jelly, cooking oil, chopped nuts, eggs, flour, and strawberries.
The instructions are simple, telling home chefs to mix all the ingredients, bake for 45 minutes, and serve plain or with whipped cream.
Rosalyn passed away two days later, Sunday afternoon, surrounded by her family. Since being diagnosed with dementia in May and entering hospice care.
Rosalyn was married to 39th President Jimmy Carter for 77 years and served as first lady during his presidential term from 1977 to 1981. She is survived by her four children and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. At age 99, Jimmy discontinued her medical intervention in February due to her own health issues, and she remains under hospice care at her home.

He was also an advocate for those who provide unseen and unpaid care.” The Bidens also noted the abiding love between Rosalyn and her husband.
