In addition to announcing its August 13 event, Google also released the first teaser for the Pixel 9 Pro today.
in From google_pixel_9_proHere you’ll find a 12-second video that begins with an animation of a “Google Pixel” utilizing a Gemini-esque color palette, with the text disappearing except for “ix,” the Roman numeral for the number nine.
There’s some bling around the device and on the camera bar, and with three lenses this is clearly the brightly colored Pro model.

The keynote will take place on Tuesday, August 13th from 10am-11am PST. As always, there will be a YouTube livestream. In announcing the event, Google repeatedly mentioned Android, Gemini, and Pixel.

The announcement comes as Android and Pixel are now in the same division (platform and device), which is expected to lead to a more integrated software and hardware experience. Meanwhile, Google teased at I/O 2024 that this year’s Pixel will come with Gemini Nano with multimodal capabilities, enhancing experiences like spam call detection.
Google has also been demoing Gemini Live, and the Pixel 9 series could be one of the first devices to get the conversational experience, with the Astra live camera feature expected to arrive later this year.
