A group of Israeli tech veterans have launched a US-based startup that uses the power of AI to fend off cyber attacks.
The company’s software reportedly autonomously seeks out and investigates cyber threats.
Lior Div and Yonatan Stream-Amit set out to develop the technology that would power the new company. Seven AIThe company was founded in February and announced on June 8 that it had already raised $36 million in seed funding.
The company says it is on a mission to reinvent the command centers (SOCs, security operations centers) that monitor an organization’s entire IT infrastructure, including websites, databases, servers, applications, networks, desktops, and data centers, with AI.
“As attackers harness the power of AI to launch unprecedented levels of cyberattacks, it is time for defenders to equip themselves with similar cutting-edge technology,” they wrote. LinkedIn “Our mission is clear: to arm defenders with AI and change the tide of the cybersecurity battle.”
Seven AI’s website currently reveals very little, telling visitors that the company is “reinventing the SOC” and inviting them to join a waiting list to learn more.
Amit elaborated in another LinkedIn post: “Trained with comprehensive threat intelligence, our multi-agent AI systems perform automated triage and suggest response actions across our customers’ systems, taking into account the complexities of their business and preferences,” he wrote.
“This approach eliminates the need for complex detection engineering, manual threat hunting, and playbooks, allowing security teams to focus on strategic initiatives.”
Div and Amit co-founded Israeli cybersecurity startup Cybereason in 2012 to provide businesses with protection from ransomware and malware attacks. The company has raised $850 million in funding and was valued at $3 billion at its peak in July 2021.
But the global recession of 2022 hit the company hard: its value plummeted to $300 million, it was forced to cut 1,500 employees, and co-founders Div (CEO) and Amit (CTO) resigned last year.
They then founded Boston-based Seven AI and raised funding from Silicon Valley venture capital fund Greylock Partners, as well as US-based CRV and Spark Capital, early Cybereason backers.
“Founders Lior Div and Yonatan Striem Amit are exceptional entrepreneurs with deep expertise in the hashtag #cybersecurity. We at Greylock are proud to lead their first funding round and be their first partners,” Greylock said in a LinkedIn post.
Greylock provided pre-seed funding to the company last September before it had even begun product development, valuing it at more than $100 million, according to a research firm. The Wall Street Journal report.
