The Finals is a fast-paced arena shooter that has quickly become a 2023 holiday favorite among gamers. Here’s how players can overcome gun recoil and start taking control of the match.
Like all other shooters, in Final you will experience recoil when you shoot your gun. As players become familiar with their weapons or go into practice mode and learn kickback patterns, they become better at aiming and mowing down enemies.
Unlike the tactical shooters of Counter-Strike and Valorant, standing and shooting is not recommended in arena shooters. Instead, players are expected to move around and target enemies that are also moving at high speeds.

How to reduce recoil to almost zero in the final

The technique Viscose uses to remove kickback from a gun is called recoil smoothing. This is a term borrowed from other arena and battle royale shooters like his Apex Legends. The conceit is that if the player is tracking the enemy with a crosshair at a constant mouse speed while shooting, the recoil of all guns will be reduced, in some cases almost to zero.

To smooth out recoil and eliminate gun recoil in the final, players must:
- Track the enemy vertically or horizontally while shooting
- Shoot in the opposite direction of enemy movement
If the enemy is moving fast enough, such as on a zipline, the player can stay stationary to smooth out the recoil, but strafeing in the opposite direction of the enemy’s movement (and strafeing in general) , will help you start the effect consistently.
You can also start smoothing out recoil as you move back and forth while shooting stationary or far away enemies.
