Wearable startup Humane has officially announced its first device, the Ai Pin. The company has been drip-feeding information for months, but only gave us a glimpse of the device used by Naomi Campbell at Paris Fashion Week in October.
Ai Pin is a wearable AI assistant that fits in your pocket and is said to be able to perform tasks that current mobile phones and voice assistants do, but it doesn’t have a screen and relies primarily on voice commands and, in some cases, images projected onto the user’s hand. It works through a virtual screen. This works independently from other devices and is connected to its own phone network through T-Mobile, but with Humane’s own MVNO it gets even more complicated.
The device will cost $700, or $24 per month for unlimited talk, text, and data, and is expected to ship in early 2024.
We are still waiting for deeper practical impressions and demonstrations of this technology. I’m skeptical not only because Google Glass has only been around for more than a decade.
Have a great weekend! Please check out our new releases TMA series on YouTubeI try to do more work for our amazing video team every Saturday.
