A woman who used to be bullied because of her severe acne has become a beauty influencer and skincare expert.
Courtney Jones, from Killamarsh, Sheffield, has suffered from acne since she was a teenager, but after years of enduring painful acne, she achieved internet stardom by documenting her skincare journey. I rose to the top.
A 21-year-old content creator with 1 million followers on TikTok @courtneyjones5252 She now gives advice and recommends skin care products to her fans.
Courtney developed cystic acne at the age of 15 and became so depressed that she sometimes didn’t want to leave the house.
The influencer tried countless products to clear her skin, but nothing seemed to work until she was finally prescribed Accutane.
Accutane is a drug primarily used to treat severe acne, but it is also used to prevent certain skin cancers and treat other cancers.
She revealed in another TikTok that aside from medicine, she has a number of other products she trusts.
Some of these include Cerave’s £13 Blemish Control Cleanser and £11.50 Moisturizing Lotion, Acnecide’s £9.99 5% Benzoyl Peroxide Gel and Skin Proud’s £16.95 Serious Shade SPF50+ Sunscreen.
In a candid video, Kourtney shared how blemish sufferers can apply makeup without causing breakouts.
“If you have blemishes and want to wear makeup, you just need to make sure you’re wearing the right makeup. There are many different types of makeup out there.
“Some of these products are not right for you and can make the stain worse. You need to make sure you find the product that is right for you.”
“And at the end of the day, make sure to remove it properly, as any makeup that isn’t properly washed off can cause further blemishes.”
“So I’ll continue to wear makeup.
“I don’t wear makeup every day, but now that I’ve found a makeup that actually works for me, I keep wearing it. It never comes off.”
Her vulnerability online has earned her a huge fan base of loyal support who often flock to her in the comments praising her transparency.
