On Thursday we got the final S&P Global Manufacturing PMI data for January in the US, which came in at 50.7 versus a preliminary 50.3.
Adam had posted this earlier.
The thing that caught my attention, stuck in the mud, is that the inflation index in this report is showing significant upward pressure. From comment to report:
- Signs of rising factory costs on the back of supply delays, with more expensive deliveries often linked to bad weather and recent disruptions to global shipping.
- these The rise in costs increases the prices that factories charge for goods, which rose in January at the fastest pace since last April
- Thus some renewed upward pressure on consumer prices may emerge in the coming months if these supply-linked inflationary trends continue
(The bold is mine)
