Sept 11 (Reuters) – India on Monday imposed anti-dumping duties on some Chinese steel products for five years, according to a government notification.
On September 4, India’s Steel Minister Nagendra Nath Sinha said New Delhi was monitoring the steel import situation after the steel industry raised concerns about possible dumping by Chinese sellers. .
From April to July, China, the second-largest steel exporter to India after South Korea, sold 600,000 tonnes, an increase of 62% year-on-year.
India’s imports of finished steel during the period totaled 2 million tonnes, the highest since 2020 and a 23% year-on-year increase.
China, the world’s largest steel producer, primarily exported cold-rolled coils or sheets to India.
