Intel is making a big push into the GenAI software space.
The Santa Clara, Calif., semiconductor giant announced Wednesday that it is partnering with asset management firm DigitalBridge Group to form Articul8 AI, an independent company focused on “turnkey” generative AI (GenAI) enterprise solutions.
The new company will use Intel’s GenAI system, developed on one of its supercomputers. The system combines open source and proprietary technology to read text and images. Both companies have remained tight-lipped about the value of the deal or their stake in the new company.
Articul8 provides enterprise customers with a platform that provides customer data, training, and AI capabilities for inference, with cloud, on-premises, and hybrid deployment options, the company said in a release.
“With our deep knowledge of the AI and HPC domains and our enterprise-grade GenAI deployment, Articul8 is well-positioned to deliver tangible business outcomes for Intel and our broader ecosystem of customers and partners.” CEO Pat Gelsinger said in a statement.
Arun Subramaniyan, former vice president and general manager of Intel’s Data Center and AI Group, has been named CEO of Articul8. DigitalBridge served as the lead investor, and other venture capital firms including Fin Capital, Mindset Ventures, Communitas Capital, and GiantLeap Capital joined in the effort with stakes.
“Today, every global company is challenged to integrate the power of GenAI into their workflows,” DigitalBridge CEO Marc Ganzi said in a release. “Articul8 has built a scalable, easy-to-deploy GenAI software platform that is already enabling enterprises to derive value from their own data. I think it’s a power.”
