Brittany’s After Thanksgiving Pie
The great thing about this recipe is that it includes all of your Thanksgiving favorites and allows you to incorporate all of your family’s traditional dishes. There is no right or wrong way to make them, each one will be unique and different. Here’s how I make the traditional one.
You can make your own puff pastry or purchase deep-dish versions in the frozen section of your local grocery store. Start by spreading the ham base layer evenly on the bottom, then add the turkey. Next, layer the green beans and stuffing. Fill in the gaps with corn, then top with a heaping amount of mashed potatoes. Sometimes I leave the mashed potatoes as chips so they get crispy when baked, but most of the time I add a top crust. The top I get is usually sold near croissants, but it’s rolled up puff pastry that usually comes in 2 packs. Spread it out on the top and make four slits for ventilation. Freeze it for rainy days when you don’t feel like cooking and want some comforting food. I always eat it with cranberry relish and gravy. enjoy!
modifier
If your family enjoys sweet potatoes, this will create a deliciously sweet moment.
You can also add relish to the pie. I do this after turkey. That way you don’t have to worry about having relish left on the side when serving after freezing for a while.
