Is anyone still impressed by Balenciaga’s infamous 2022 ad campaign featuring a teddy bear in a harness? Kim Kardashian has been “re-evaluating” her relationship with the fashion house following the scandal caused by these ads, but things seem to be different as she was just appointed as the brand’s ambassador this week.
So is Patricia Field. Ms. Field, 82, is a trader, costume designer and lifelong advocate of funky alternative style, and is the star of Balenciaga’s new Closet campaign alongside Ms. Kardashian and Ms. Nicola Peltz-Beckham.
Ms. Field appears in the ad, looking fearless in a black leather trench and carrying the label’s latest version of the Le City bag ($2,450), a newly minted version of the brand’s best-selling handbag. He is posing in front of a shelf full of different versions.
“When I first approached them, I thought they wanted my services as a stylist,” she said. “But I was very happy to find out that they wanted me as a model. My reaction was, ‘Really?’ myself? ‘”

Knights of the Brooklyn Museum
“Where do you put Chevalier before or after your name?” asked Diane Brill, a fashion designer known for her curly hair, with a completely straight face at the French Consulate General in New York later this month.
Mr. Brill, once a staple of the New York club scene, was referring to his title, which means knight in French. The honor had just been bestowed on his friend Matthew Yokobosky, senior curator of fashion and visual culture at the Brooklyn Museum, in a ceremony at the Consulate General. Mr. Yokobosky, Persons nominated as Knights of the National Order of Meritis known for hosting lavish exhibitions highlighting the work of French designers such as Christian Dior, Thierry Mugler, and Pierre Cardin.
Damien Laban, France’s acting consul general in New York, said he received the honor in recognition of his “contribution to the shaping of our country’s culture” and “forward-thinking.” Guests watched from gilded chairs as Laban pinned the ultimate fine jewelry, a gold medal, on the curator’s chest.
Yokobosky said the decoration brought him back to his childhood in southwestern Pennsylvania. At the time, his piano teacher gave him a postcard in French as a reward for his success in lessons. This gesture ignited Mr. Yokobosky’s enduring passion for Gallic culture, especially French style. “When I’m in Paris, I often feel like I’m in a very chic movie,” he said.
For the record, he and Mr. Brill decided (through a Google search) that they could call him “Chevalier Yokobosky,” or more simply, “Monsieur.”
