Graveside services for Lamar Gray Sr. will be held on January 7, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Cedar Hill Cemetery, 326 Lovers Lane, Vicksburg, Mississippi.
Visitation will be held on January 6, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at CJ Williams Funeral Service, 4310 Halls Ferry Road, Vicksburg, Mississippi with family present.
Lamar Gray Sr. changed jobs on January 1, 2024 at the age of 46.
Lamar Dwayne Gray Sr. was born on October 23, 1977 in Vicksburg, Mississippi to parents Katie Mae Gray and James Scott. She Lamar was baptized at Wayside Apostolic Liberation Church. Lamar graduated from Warren Central High School and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps after graduation. Lamar then went to Hines where he attended community college and earned a certification in engineering. Lamar was a very hard-working and innovative craftsman who took pride in his work and in providing for his family.
Lamar was predeceased by his parents, Katie Gray and James Scott, and his brother, Darrell Shelton. He married the love of his life Denisha in 2003, who survives him. Lamar is also survived by his daughters, LaMaria Gray and Taylor Gray; his sons, Lamar D. Gray Jr. and Mark D. Gray; four beautiful grandchildren, Camden Gray, Raelynn Gray, Royal Gray and Lennox Gray; two sisters, Tina Turner and Karana Gray; five brothers, Anthony Gray; Larry Gray Sr., Gregory Shelton, Paul Shelton, Morris Shelton (Andrea), Rosa Lee Sanders. one aunt: Chaney Lee Peterson, special niece Alexia Gray, and many nieces, nephews and cousins, including the Bunch and Lumpkin families.
Lamar was known for his love of football and family. He was a loving and devoted son, uncle, brother, father, husband and friend to those around him. If I needed Lamar to help me with anything, he was there. Although Lamar preferred solitude, there is no doubt that he most enjoyed telling jokes and sharing his infectious smile and laughter. He loved being called Paw Paw and running around with his grandchildren.
An avid Chicago Bears fan, he finally got to see the team play live during a trip to New Orleans with his wife.
