With all eyes on Destiny 2’s final Light and Darkness expansion, The Final Shape, Bungie is at least willing to do something as drastic as ceasing development on the game, regardless of recent issues or not. It gave me enough information to know that I wasn’t doing it.
We are being pushed into a new format with no seasonality. The format is still… somewhat seasonal, but with three episodes instead of four and longer, more substantial content. But for now, I think we’ve had enough story hints about how things are going and we’ve figured out the focus, or at least part of the focus, of what’s already been announced.

Echoes, Vex episode – This may be the most obscure, but as of this week, I think we’ve gotten some strong hints that it’s connected to the Ishtar Collective’s Vex research team. We witnessed the symbol of Ishtar within the Black Garden. There, copies of the original team are known to be exploring. And there are hints that the other copies there had previous contact with the missing Vault of Glass fireteam warlock, Prahladys. Also, given that we’ve never truly gotten a “face” from a hateful race, given Maya Sundaresh’s explanation of Veil research, she continues to live on after death and is an enemy injected into the Vex. My theory is that he will appear as a person. . Asher Mir might also make an appearance.

Revenant scone episode – Again, we’ve gotten hints about this in past seasons, but especially this season. We know that there is a faction of Skorn loyalists working for Fikrul, especially outside of The Witness’ plans. Even if it is known that scones are used in the army itself. Fikrul is discussed at length in the Warlord’s Ruins dungeon, and the implication is that the Scorners there are from a royal family with close ties to Uldren in Qrow’s previous life. We’ve killed off Fikrul multiple times, but he’s effectively immortal, and as the only real despised figure who continues to lurk and conspire behind the scenes, it’s pretty obvious he’s the focus of this episode. It seems obvious.

Heresy, Hive Episode – Again, it is very clear which Hive we are ready to focus on. We know that Savathun has come back to life and is doing something with her ghost as a hostage. And with the events of Season of the Witch, Eris used the power of the Hive God to separate Shiv Arath from the Throne World, making her her mortal and giving her the ability to be hunted and killed. In theory. Her one caveat here is that it’s hard to imagine Savathon not being involved in The Final Shape in some significant way. did it See something like The Witness transporting Xivu Arath through a traveler portal to serve as a final line of defense and perhaps even a campaign boss. But we don’t know that, and my money is on both sisters being heavily featured in this episode.
These are my theories based on what I consider to be pretty solid evidence over the past year. Please tell me what you think.
