NEWPORT, R.I. (WPRI) — 12 News has learned that Bellevue Gardens Shopping Center may eventually be home to a new luxury hotel.
The shopping plaza, which first opened in 1956, was sold last year to Procacianti Companies for $40 million.
Procacianti Companies told 12News that the planned 91-room hotel will be “complete with luxury amenities.”
“The footprint of the hotel and additional underground parking will fit within the existing site without any changes to the shopping plaza or its tenants,” the real estate firm noted.
Centerbrook Architects and Planners of Connecticut was hired to design the luxury hotel.
Procacianti Companies is scheduled to submit a proposal to Newport’s technical review committee next month.
