A British Airways pilot inhaled coke from the breast of a topless woman while partying in South Africa, then groggily tried to board a crowded flight to London, according to reports.
Mike Beaton, a married father-of-one, took a night off in Johannesburg for “downtime” before he was scheduled to co-pilot a flight back to London four weeks ago.
He boasted in a text message to a flight attendant friend that he had spent the night indulging in booze, drugs and women. The Sun reported.
“I was a very naughty girl,” he told her.
According to the paper, as the flight attendants were about to board the plane the next day, they reported the pilot’s alarming night to their superiors, who canceled the 12-hour flight to Heathrow and cost British Airways about $120,000. It is said that damage occurred.
Mr Beaton was suspended and returned as a passenger the next day. He failed a drug test at the airport and was subsequently fired.
In a text message to flight attendants, Mr Beaton said he had met two local men, a Welsh woman on holiday and a “young Spanish bird” at a nightclub in Johannesburg. After hours of drinking, the group staggered to a hotel bar and, after a nightcap, ended up in one of the local men’s apartments.
“Welsh decided I should actually be her boyfriend. Spaniard hooks up with one of two local lads and makes him suck her T-shirt on their couch ” he said.
Beaton boasted that the “girls” were dancing topless when the cocaine arrived.
“I lost my shirt somewhere, but one of the local lads brought me a plate with a few lines of Coke on it,” he wrote. “So a debate ensues about whose breasts are best suited for doing bump-offs.”
“This is the story of how I ended up vaping coke off a girl’s T-shirt in Joburg,” he smiles happily.
“I spent a lot of nights with Wales over the years (I think the coke had something to do with it),” he continued. “Then I was so shaken up that I couldn’t even lift my head until 2 o’clock.”
A British Airways source told The Sun the airline was shocked by the incident.
“Among the many egregious acts that occur on the flight-to-flight route, this incident is hard to believe,” the official said. “First officers have undergone rigorous training and know the law inside and out. Their mission is to keep passengers safe.
“The idea of sending details of his drinking and drug use to stewardesses between flights is extremely foolish,” they added.
When he underwent a drug test at Heathrow Airport, a source said: “There should have been no alcohol detected in his system, but class A drugs were detected.” “He will never fly again.”
British Airways officials told The Sun there was no danger to passengers on the flight following Mr Beaton’s drug binge. The airline confirmed that the pilot no longer works for the company.
“If a British pilot misuses alcohol or drugs while on board or on board an aircraft, airlines must immediately notify us,” the British Civil Aviation Authority said in a statement.
“In such cases, we will immediately suspend the pilot’s medical examination and he will be unable to fly,” the official continued. “In most cases, pilots will be evaluated by a professional medical team and, if they wish to return to flight, a comprehensive rehabilitation program will be put in place.”
