Sonali Chandra is a 36-year-old virgin. In fact, she has only ever kissed five men.
She grew up in a very conservative household where sex was taught to be a sacred act between husband and wife.
But now even her hard-line family members are telling her to “get over it” and joining the voices of thousands of critics and men who dare to “slide into her DMs.”
The American-born business executive and stand-up comedian remains resolute, saying she will only give herself to a man who will “put a ring on it.”
For this reason, dating has become difficult in modern times. Many suitors “ghost” a woman when they find out that she doesn’t really want to give up her virginity.

“The first time I told a man that I was still a virgin was when I was 26,” she told Truly TV.
“My first kiss, the guy I had my first real relationship with, he was in shock. His jaw dropped and he asked me if I was going to be a virgin forever.”
Sonali spent her 27th birthday wondering if her boyfriend would text her back, but then realized she had been brutally ghosted after talking about her virginity on her birthday .

“I went through hell mentally every time they ghosted me,” she said.

As a child, Sonali grew up in a very strict household. Her Indian parents never allowed her to have sleepovers and her dating was strictly prohibited.
She wasn’t even allowed to go to prom, and when it came time to go to college, she was told she couldn’t live in a dorm.
“My strict upbringing definitely had a big impact on my dating life. Socializing was also forbidden, and dating was definitely a no-no,” she explained.

“Dating is a life skill, and I was forbidden to develop it as a teenager and in college.”
Sonali’s sexuality is questioned by her suitors, who assume she is gay or Asexual when she rejects their proposals.
“The truth is, I’m a straight woman. I have strong values and high morals, and I consider sex to be sacred and special.”
Sonali also revealed some of her fears regarding premarital sex, including pregnancy.
“My biggest fear was that I would accidentally become pregnant,” she claimed. “It’s very easy for men. It’s easy to get in and out, right?
“For us women, it’s a long process. Even if you’re on the pill, there are a lot of health problems like sexually transmitted diseases, urinary tract infections, and accidentally getting pregnant.
