Microsoft has announced that the Xbox 360 store will be closing next year.
Specifically, after July 29, 2024, Xbox 360 console users will no longer be able to purchase content directly through the console or the Xbox 360 Marketplace site.
Players with older Xbox 360 consoles after this date will still be able to use all previously purchased Xbox 360 games and DLC.
If a player has deleted a purchased game, it can still be re-downloaded. Players can also continue to play these games online (as long as the publisher supports them) and save their game progress in the cloud.
This does not affect the ability to purchase backward compatible Xbox 360 games and DLC on the Xbox One or Xbox Series X/S stores where titles are still available.
However, backward compatibility only goes so far. Of the 2,154 games released for Xbox 360, only 633 are considered backward compatible.
according to VGCAs a result of this closure, it is estimated that approximately 220 digital-only Xbox 360 games that are not backward compatible will be unavailable from that date, essentially disappearing from the console, including several games not available elsewhere. I’m here.
