A horrifying video shows a model undergoing alternative medicine treatment in Thailand suddenly burst into flames, leaving her with painful third-degree burns and blisters that lasted for months.
The model, identified only by the nickname Game, was in Bangkok to try paoya, a traditional Thai treatment of burning herbs on the stomach to treat a variety of symptoms, including digestive issues and menstrual cramps. Visited the clinic.
In the video, Game appears to be relaxing on a spa table with a towel and a mixture of herbs on his stomach, but then things quickly take a sinister turn. When the doctor ignited the mixture using a tealight candle, the flames quickly spread to the models’ clothes and the table.
Graphic footage shows Game thrashing around and screaming in pain as orange flames coat his stomach. She then tumbled to her floor while her medical workers desperately put out the fire.
In another surprising development, footage shows the doctor providing treatment for Game retreating into a corner away from the flames as his colleagues and Game’s boyfriend frantically put out the fire. There is.
According to a complaint filed by the model with Thailand’s Ministry of Health on Monday, a receptionist at the clinic sprayed him with water and an assistant used a pillow to put out the fire.
“I suffered a lot of pain. I’m worried that my work will be affected. I have to work again in another week, but I still have to receive treatment at the hospital. No,” she wrote in her filing.
Game said she has been receiving treatment for several months for third-degree burns and painful blisters covering most of her back and under her chest.
“I had to be in bed for two months. I was lucky that I didn’t have any infections. I used insurance, but the hospital bills were expensive. The clinic couldn’t help us. . Now it’s affecting my work,” she said.
“Treatment is still ongoing and the injury has not yet completely healed. Meanwhile, the lawsuit with them has not made any progress,” Game added.
Game and her boyfriend claimed that the clinic refused to take responsibility for her injuries, and her lawyer, famous Thai lawyer Gantach Pongpai Boonwet (also known as Gan Jongparan) also joined the lawsuit.
“The clinic and the doctor refused to take responsibility and shifted the blame between parties,” her lawyer said. “My client has had to pay his own hospital bills and his wounds are not healing. I am helping those responsible to ensure they are properly compensated.”
Ministry of Health official Dr. Runluang Kipati said it was the first time he had received a complaint about the treatment and the ministry would investigate.
Paoya uses heat therapy and herbal medicine to treat a variety of physical ailments, including menstrual cramps and various digestive problems.
One of the techniques used, moxibustion, is done by burning dried mugwort at acupuncture points in the abdomen.
