Every service provider reading MSSP Alert wants to know about the latest trends and issues in cybersecurity, but we know that service providers are also interested in other tools they need to run their business, including AI and IT management platforms like RMM and PSA.
With that in mind, each week we’ll be bringing you a round-up of some of the best content we’ve published on our affiliate site, ChannelE2E.
There’s some big news this week, including details about TD Synnex’s next CEO, a new AI platform that gives MSPs a no-code AP application builder, and information about new AI ticketing enhancements from MSP tools vendor Syncro.
Cybersecurity Consolidation: How One MSP Benefits from Standardization
Many MSPs now agree that cybersecurity is the third pillar of their technology stack – the first two being RMM and PSA – but this is a recent development: for many years, cybersecurity was an add-on service, often an afterthought.
One such MSP is PCA Technology Group, a Buffalo, New York-based company that had been generating roughly $5 million in annual revenue for many years. But PCA realized that an increasingly complex threat environment created a growing demand for cybersecurity services, creating a big opportunity for MSPs.
At the time, not many people thought of cybersecurity as a small business issue, but PCA recognized it as a multi-faceted opportunity: the potential to increase revenue and grow its customer base while simultaneously increasing the average size of its customers.
“For many years, we had roughly $5 million in revenue, but about five years ago we started looking at ways to increase our revenue through managed services and cybersecurity,” Steven Noyce, vice president of sales at PCA Technology Group, told ChannelE2E. “Our customers, which are typically around 25 to 250 people, have tripled in size,” he added.
Hatz AI Delivers No-Code AI Application Builder to MSPs
Canalys said (about 10 months ago) that the AI sales opportunity in the channel today is with systems integrators, followed by MSPs and MSSPs within 18 months.
While this may be true, many vendors and MSPs/MSSPs are currently working on how MSPs and MSSPs can help their customers implement AI and realize the benefits of AI.
One emerging vendor in this space is Hatz AI, co-founded and led by Jimmy Hatzell, who comes from cybersecurity vendors well known to MSPs, including Cyber QP, Barracuda MSP, and SKOUT Cybersecurity (acquired by Barracuda for its MDR technology).
Hatz AI released its first products, AI Chat and AI Application Builder, in March.
Six things to know: TD Synnex’s next CEO
Patrick Zammit will take up the role of CEO of TD Synnex from 1 September, succeeding Rich Hume, who is retiring from the company. Hume will remain on the board of directors.
This shift comes at a monumental moment for the channel and IT industry as cloud computing, cybersecurity and AI are changing the game for everyone, including technology and IT distributors, MSPs, MSSPs and all channel partners.
The change comes as TD Cinex and the channel at large mourns the recent passing of a character. Bob Dutkowski, former CEO of Tech Data(I had the opportunity to interview Dutkowsky multiple times when he led Tech Data and when he was at Channel Insider. He was always available to the press. He was a true leader in the market.)
TD Synnex is gearing up for a new era, recently creating and releasing MSP Evolve, a collection of resources and tools designed specifically to meet the unique needs of managed service providers to optimize operational efficiency and accelerate business growth.
What does the change in leadership at TD Synnex mean for MSPs? Indeed, a new MSP Evolve program is in the works under the leadership of COO Zammit. Many vendors and distributors recognize that MSPs are a growing force in the industry, with other channel partner types, including solution providers, adding managed services revenue streams to their business models. ChannelE2E expects these trends to continue. Additionally, ChannelE2E expects distributors such as TD Synnex to play a key role in helping MSPs jumpstart their efforts to deliver advanced technologies, such as AI, to their end customers.
