Prestige gets even crazier in Black Ops Cold War Season 1.
Modern Warfare 3 players are sharing their memories, claiming they miss Call of Duty’s old prestige system rather than the new “weird” seasonal progression system.
Over the years, we’ve seen many changes made to Call of Duty. For a while, we went through the era of exo suits and returned to the classic boots-on-the-ground style of play.
Throughout the series, there have also been many changes to the loadout system, movement, skill-based matchmaking, and more.

In 2019’s Modern Warfare, players saw a major overhaul of CoD’s progression system. “That’s always been a kind of indicator for myself of how much I like that particular CoD. Frankly, I was very excited to say that MP for MW2 is 500% complete.” explained the player.
Furthermore, they added: I’ve already played enough MWIII and have prestigeed it at least twice so far. To be clear, I’m talking about when you were maxing your rank, gaining prestige, and returning to rank 1 instead of this weird seasonal prestige. ”

Other players in the replies agreed, stating that they miss the old system. Some have pointed out that the current system locks players at their maximum rank until the next season, which wastes XP. “I miss it so much too, really. Getting level gated and wasting XP sucks,” said one person. “The cap on XP at the start of the game is 55, so it’s all wasted,” said another.
One player claimed that the old prestige system always made the game “fun” and “challenging.” Some were confused as to why the developers removed it in the first place. “Why did they remove it? I haven’t played COD in a few years and it was a staple feature,” the player explained.
