Trainer Niantic has announced that it will be testing new visual changes for Pokémon GO in certain regions of the world over the coming months.
“We continually strive to improve the Pokémon GO experience. That’s why we make sure that the changes we make not only benefit the larger community, but also individual users before we release them globally. We want to make sure that it is also beneficial and has a strong, positive impact on the trainers’ experience.”
Trainers in these regions may see:

Reports showing different backgrounds from New Zealand trainers are already coming in on social media, showing new capture screens, maps, and GBL backgrounds that more accurately reflect the biome the trainer is playing in.
Niantic has previously offered special backgrounds for Halloween and Christmas, giving trainers hope that biome backgrounds could become more permanent, but Niantic is currently testing these. It seems that. As always, we salute you, trainers in New Zealand and Asia Pacific who may be testing these new features.
Are you in any of the areas testing these new background updates? Be sure to share your photos on social media and tag us!
