NIST said Wednesday that the draft defines basic terminology, clarifies fundamental concepts in data classification, and provides a common language for organizations looking to strengthen their data protection approaches.
NIST IR 8496 is intended to promote awareness and enforcement of secure data sharing, implementation of zero trust architectures, compliance reporting and monitoring, and data classification considerations in large-scale language models.
The report, written by experts from NIST, Miter, and Scarfone Cybersecurity, is open for public comment until January 9, 2024.
