Later, by adding a CTD (Conductivity, Temperature, Depth) instrument, the researchers were finally able to revisit Ta’am Jae. This time, the instrument recorded the blue hole’s depth at 1,377 feet below the ocean’s surface, but to their surprise, the end was not yet in sight.
Thus, while this expedition has established that Tamja is the deepest blue hole ever discovered, much work remains to determine the full extent of the structure.
This may prove to be a much harder task than initially thought, as Tamja’s measurements revealed that the water quality is very similar to that of Caribbean blue holes, all of which are connected to complex cave systems.
