Radeon RX 7800 XT is 0.5% faster than GeForce RTX 4070, according to AMD’s proprietary ray tracing gaming tests
Performance leak just before AMD launches Radeon RX 7000 GPU.
hd technology We recently shared AMD’s official data regarding the upcoming RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT graphics cards, which are scheduled to launch on September 6th. Some of this information may have been revealed previously at AMD’s announcement event, but this new leak provides a more extensive list of game titles, not specifically included in the initial presentation. Contains synthetic benchmarks that were not previously available.
The RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT graphics cards both feature the Navi 32 GPU architecture and are intended to compete with NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 4070 and RTX 4060 Ti 16GB models, respectively. AMD made this comparison clear by showing a comparison to NVIDIA GPUs and adjusting the price accordingly. A partially leaked official reviewer guide sheds light on the entire story.
Benchmark results are divided into two groups. One is when ray tracing is enabled, and the other is when ray tracing is not enabled. It’s worth noting that AMD’s hardware acceleration for ray tracing isn’t as strong as NVIDIA’s. This justifies splitting the data to highlight where AMD’s cards excel and where they might compete.

To summarize, without ray tracing, the Radeon RX 7800 XT outperforms the GeForce RTX 4070 by almost 7% on average, but with ray tracing enabled it maintains a slight 0.5% lead. Conversely, RX 7700 XT shows 16% higher performance compared to RTX 4060 Ti 16GB. However, the presence of ray tracing may give NVIDIA a slight advantage, resulting in an 8.5% lead for AMD GPUs.

HDTecnologia provided us with a slide showcasing 3DMark performance data for the RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT. Note that this list does not include UL’s latest high-end system test, the Speed Way benchmark. In terms of overall performance, the RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT appear to outperform their NVIDIA counterparts in most benchmarks, with one notable exception.
The RTX 4070 appears to achieve higher scores compared to the RX 7800 XT in the Port Royal benchmark, which incorporates ray tracing capabilities. However, it’s worth highlighting that even in this scenario, the RX 7700 XT emerges as the clear winner when pitted against the RTX 4060 Ti.
