Samsung’s One UI Watch 6 beta has now gone from being available only on the Watch 6 to also being made available on the Galaxy Watch 5 and 4 series.
The One UI Watch 6 beta brings several changes to health tracking and other features. One of the main additions is sleep analysis with Galaxy AI, which gives users a better picture of their nighttime activity. Another change is the ability to use pinch gestures to select items on the screen outside of the sometimes-restrictive Accessibility mode.
Today, Samsung is allowing Galaxy Watch 5 and 4 users to try out the new One UI Watch 6 software version in the US, seemingly expanding availability from the Watch 6. The One UI Watch 6 beta will be available for certain models of the Watch 5 and 4, excluding some “special edition” models.
When the One UI Watch 6 beta was released for the Galaxy Watch 6, a big problem was that it excluded LTE models and limited it to Bluetooth models only. A new page in the Samsung Members app states that this restriction still applies. Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 4 LTE models are excluded. The page doesn’t say why.
Users can find the One UI Watch 6 beta through the Samsung Members app. There’s a card advertising the beta at the top of the app. Tap on it to participate The update will be pushed to the Galaxy Wearable app and your Galaxy Watch depending on your watch model.
This comes just before the launch of the Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch 7 Ultra models at Samsung Unpacked in Paris. When the Galaxy Watch 7 is released, it will support the Wear OS-based One UI Watch 6 out of the box.
