A law enforcement operation codenamed “MORPHEUS” took down around 600 servers used by cybercriminals. These servers were part of an attack called Cobalt Strike. Cobalt Strike is a software used for penetration testing that fell into the hands of some cybercriminals and was used in ransomware and malware attacks. The software allows attackers with little technical experience to cause millions of dollars in damage. Interpol also seized assets worth $257 million and froze 6,745 bank accounts in an effort to expose cybercriminals using the product.
