In Episode 112 of the Acceleration Economy Minute, we report on an interesting keynote at Oracle CloudWorld led by Juan Loaiza, Executive Vice President of Mission-Critical Database Technologies.
highlight
00:18 — Juan Loaiza’s keynote, “Data and the Future of App Development,” focused on how the drive for productivity impacts Oracle’s efforts to redefine the use of data in app development.
00:49 — The session began with the words “Generate to innovate.” Oracle’s latest products focus on producing results and eliminate manual coding. The first effort was to generate results by declaring user intent.
01:29 — Oracle’s APEX enables low-code development in enterprise apps and is now expanded to include more use cases such as workflow, mobile, and mission-critical Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) . Finally, Oracle has developed a tool called AI Vector Search that is included in the latest version of Database 23c. Oracle enables developers to declare their intent using natural language.
02:16 — Although these artificial intelligence (AI) innovations simplify the app development process, Loaiza was keen to stress that this only provides a blueprint for experts to refer to during the development process. It is clear that we are beginning to move toward generation of declared intent rather than hand-coding.
