Passengers on the plane were left “frustrated and humiliated” after being asked to swap seats with more legroom so the couple could sit next to each other.according to Condé Nast Traveler, Todd Plummer was traveling from Istanbul to Kilimanjaro on Turkish Airlines in September. He had booked a regular ticket and was assigned his 11D, an exit row seat with extra legroom. Plummer, who was 6 feet 2 inches tall, was “over the moon” to be able to sit in his seat. However, his happiness did not last long and he was soon asked by the airline to swap seats with a couple due to double booking.
talk to CN Traveler, Plummer said that as soon as he took his seat, the plane’s gate agent “swooped in” and told him his seat was double booked with a couple. “The gate staff told us we needed to move to 9D to accommodate the two people, even though they were already seated,” he told the outlet.
Plummer told the gate agent that he was happy with his seat and wanted to stay there, but was told the plane was “very full.” After a long period of awkward silence, Plummer said she “hung her head down” and decided to have the two sit next to each other instead of across the aisle.
“If this was a medical emergency or the child had to sit with a parent, I would have moved them to a seat of equal or greater value. I’m an understanding person.” said Plummer.
“Sadly, for more than seven hours, I was seething with silent anger as my knees pounded the seats in front of me and my legs gave out,” he added.
