A child of a Pokemon GO player burned his precious Master Ball to a common and weak Pokemon, shocking fans around the world.
While most mainstream Pokémon games only offer players a reliable way to obtain one Master Ball, Pokémon Go fans can obtain multiple Master Balls. Because it’s a live service game that’s expected to last for years to come.
Master Balls are extremely valuable as they are 100% guaranteed to catch wild Pokemon. Unfortunately, Niantic has realized this and has tied the Master Ball to expensive and difficult events.

As such, players tend to save their rare and valuable Master Balls for off-color or legendary Pokémon that have a reputation for quick escape, such as the legendary bird of Galarein.

Catching common Pokemon with Master Balls isn’t necessarily a bad idea, as Shiny variants can have value. Pokémon of different colors are extremely rare, so if you like the Pokémon, it’s a good idea to burn the Master Ball to get it.
Unfortunately, the captured Glavin was not Shiny, Shadow, Hund, or even a variant of the event. It’s a common grubbin, the kind that people just walk by on the street every day and don’t even try to catch.

At least this Grabin comes with an interesting story, and you can always trade it into your current game via Pokémon Home and take it on an adventure. It may not be special for conventional reasons, but it could still be a beloved part of someone’s Pokémon journey.
