Emirates is expanding its pre-order meal program. It’s good to see this concept expand, but don’t expect it to be as powerful as Singapore Airlines’ Book The Cook program.
Pre-select your Emirates Business Class meal
A few weeks ago, Emirates began piloting a concept that would allow business class passengers to select their meals in advance, and this is now being expanded to more routes.
- The service currently operates on routes to and from many European cities including Bologna, Brussels, Dublin, Hamburg, Istanbul, London, Madrid, Moscow, Prague, Rome, St. Petersburg, Venice, Vienna and Warsaw, as well as on the following routes: Available.and from Seychelles and Mauritius
- Business class passengers can choose a meal between 14 days and 24 hours prior to departure. with this link
- This is aimed at ensuring passengers choose their first choice and reducing waste (which in the long run will reduce the amount of additional meals Emirates needs to load).
Please note that this is not intended to give you access to more options than what is offered on board, but simply to allow people to choose their preferred meal first . Emirates flight attendants will list your dietary preferences on a digital device used to take food and drink orders. Emirates’ tablets also include AI-enabled customer preference tracking data to facilitate menu planning, optimal food stowage and waste minimization.
Many airlines offer this, from American Airlines to Delta Air Lines to United Airlines to Lufthansa, so we hope Emirates rolls this out more widely soon.
Emirates also allows you to check the menu in advance.
This is not new, but I think it is unfamiliar to some people. Emirates publishes menus for every flight in advance, so you know what you’ll be able to eat and drink before boarding your flight. I always enjoy watching this before my Emirates flight.

conclusion
Emirates has now expanded its Business Class pre-order meal program to more routes in Europe and Africa. This seems like a win-win, as airlines minimize waste while ensuring passengers get their first choice of ticket.
If you don’t know what you want to eat in advance, don’t worry. We’ve found that Emirates is usually great at loading enough food on board to get most people on their first-choice flight. So, unlike U.S. airlines, we don’t just carry exactly as many meals as passengers.
What do you think about Emirates’ meal pre-ordering system?
