Prime Minister Narendra Modi today paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat in Delhi to commemorate Mahatma Gandhi’s 154th birth anniversary.
The Prime Minister said Mahatma Gandhi’s influence is global and inspires people around the world to promote unity and compassion.
“On the special occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, I bow to Mahatma Gandhi. His timeless teachings continue to illuminate our path. Mahatma Gandhi’s influence is global and… , motivates the entire human race to further the spirit of unity and compassion. May we always strive towards the realization of his dreams,” PM Modi wrote about X.

Tributes poured in for Mahatma Gandhi from all quarters.
President Drupadi Murmu said Mahatma Gandhi’s ideology is timeless and always relevant to the world. She appealed to people to follow his values and teachings for the welfare of the country.
“Gandhi’s ideals of truth and nonviolence paved a new path for the world.Gandhi not only fought for nonviolence throughout his life, but also for the causes of cleanliness, women’s empowerment, self-reliance, and farmers’ rights. We fought against untouchability, social discrimination and illiteracy,” she said in a message on the eve of Gandhi Jayanti.
Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge appealed to the people to follow the Mahatma’s ideas of truth, non-violence and equality.
“The ideas and ideals of our founding father Mahatma Gandhi, the founder of India’s freedom struggle who inspired the whole world to walk the path of truth, non-violence and peace, remain relevant to us today.” Mr. Karji wrote about X.

“His ideas like truth, non-violence, peace and equality are being challenged today but we are fighting it by following the values that Bapu taught,” he added.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also paid glowing tributes to the Mahatma to mark the occasion.
“The path of truth, non-violence and harmony, the path to uniting India, was charted by Mahatma Gandhi. Hundreds of Bapu paid homage to him on his birth anniversary,” Gandhi said in X.
Congress President Om Birla and Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena along with other dignitaries paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat.
