Official data released on Monday showed retail inflation rose to a 15-month high of 7.44% in July on the back of soaring prices for vegetables and other food items.
Inflation, based on the consumer price index (CPI), was 4.87% in June 2022 and 6.71% in July.
A high inflation rate of 7.79% was previously recorded in April 2022.
Food basket inflation was 11.51% in July 2022, compared with 4.55% in June and 6.69% in July, according to data.
According to data released by the National Statistics Office (NSO), retail inflation for vegetables rose 37.43% year-on-year, while prices for “cereals and products” rose 13%.
