Sarah Burton, Alexander McQueen’s designer turned creative director, is leaving the company after nearly 30 years.
Burton made the statement in a release issued by the fashion house on Monday. “I’m so proud of everything I’ve done and the great team at Alexander McQueen,” Barton said. “They are my family and this has been my home for the past 26 years.”

Burton’s relationship with the namesake brand dates back to his college days at Central Saint Martins in London, during which time Burton interned with McQueen while he was still alive.
